The people behind Galerieformat
Galerieformat is a one-woman show with the wind at its back: Paula runs the gallery with heart and vision – while Bernhard supports her behind the scenes.
Paula Ellinger
Paula is an artist herself – art is her great passion and has been her home for many years. After several years of experience in the field, she fulfilled a lifelong dream with Galerieformat: her own gallery, opened on 27 September 2025 – while she was still studying. The gallery and its first months were even the subject of her thesis.
Her vision goes beyond exhibiting: Paula wants to accompany young artists in the long run, give them more visibility and offer honest feedback on how they present themselves – in a setting that is professional and still feels like a living room.
Bernhard
Bernhard is friend and helper in one: he works behind the scenes, lends a hand with setup and teardown, supports the opening nights and makes sure guests and artists alike feel completely at home.

Yes. We are happy to receive applications from artists who would like to present their works with us. Depending on our current planning, applications are possible for solo exhibitions and/or group exhibitions. You can find current open calls and available exhibition slots on our website and on our social media channels. For a first application, a few meaningful photos of your works and some short information about you and your art are all it takes. If your works are a possible fit for an exhibition, we will get back to you with all further details.
The participation fees vary depending on the exhibition format and duration. The specific costs are stated transparently in every open call or offer. There is no additional sales commission on sold works.
Yes. The maximum size for exhibited works is 90 × 110 cm. Within this limit, different formats and techniques are generally possible. What matters is that the works can be presented safely and appropriately in our rooms. Please mention any special requirements regarding weight or hanging in your application.
That depends on the exhibition format and the size of your works. For solo exhibitions, around 15 running metres of wall space are available for you to use freely. Depending on the format, this usually allows for about 15–20 works. For group exhibitions, 1–5 works per artist are usually possible. The exact number is agreed individually after a successful application and depends, among other things, on the size of the works and the overall concept of the exhibition.
No. 100% of the sale price goes to the artists. We do not charge any sales commission.
We present your works professionally, inform visitors about the exhibition and support its visibility through our communication channels. A sale, however, can never be guaranteed. How well works sell depends, among other things, on pricing, level of recognition, the work itself, the audience and also on how actively artists draw attention to their own exhibition.
Depending on the exhibition format, we take care of presenting your works in the gallery, organising the exhibition, communication via our social media channels and looking after the gallery during our regular opening hours. For exhibitions with an opening night, we also take care of the organisational framework of the evening. You will always find the exact services included in the respective open call or your personal offer.
Delivery and collection of the works are generally carried out by the artists, organised and paid for by them. The exact dates for setup and teardown are announced before the exhibition and must be observed. Sending works by post is not feasible for logistical reasons.
